RCP Trailwork

Rowlett Creek Preserve isn't a very technically challenging trail, but it's fairly close to our house, so Amy and I ride there quite a bit. Jack Sparkes recently decided to bring Old Loop 7 back online, resurrected as Loop 14, and I joined a trail work crew for a couple of weekends to help get it ready for use. Enjoy the pics...

Gathering at Tommy's house, near the trail.

Creek crossing.

Willy.

David.

Jay, Jack's assistant trail steward.

Trisha.

Some strange paraphernalia...

A new bridge goes in.

Have to anchor them so the storms don't wash them downstream!

Above and beyond the call of duty.

Jack.

Foster, and his broken tool.

Davis.

Aspen, rocking the mullet!

End of work day #1... lots done today!

Post-work meal at Potbelly's.

Work weekend number 2... this will finish the loop, and open it to the masses for use.

Creek crossing, pre-armor.

Ben, Brad and Mark cut a benchcut.

Prepping for the armor.

Bringing it in...

and laying it in place.

Found some wire!

Shelter in the woods.

The re-birth of a creek crossing.

Line from the top.

Some riders found the opening to the trail, and got to be the first.

Nice climb.

This head-knocker's got to go.

The bowl.

Another creek crossing. Surely we can create a better line than that...

Another rider comes through.

Right through here...

Yep, that's good.

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Another couple of riders come through and try a new climb.

Finished.

Well, sort of. Some of these "tree gates" need some rethinking.

Ben tries out Jay's new rig.

And vice versa.

Rewarding to ride a trail that you put sweat and muscle into!
